Lazy Blogger

I am a lazy blogger. After the new year I shall reassess my blogging priorities. That is it! To lazy to write much more. Oh, and Merry Christmas. Here is what I hope Santa brings me for Christmas. What is he bringing you?

...and don't forget behind your ears.

Since I haven't been making anything due to the economy, the election, my laundry (any ol' excuse will do). Well I guess making an excuse is actually creating something. Anyway as I was saying before I distracted myself. I received these lovely soaps from a dear family friend. Just imagine, he is the really nice uncle type. The kind who would give you gum or quarters just because, except he gives us this most delicious smelling all natural soap ever. The truth is all who are lucky to know this wonderful guy act like little children when he is around too. Comments such as "for me, oh you shouldn't have" , followed by giggles and snorts as we press our snouts up to the soaps to see who gets what scent are very common when he presents us with the latest scents.

At this point you are saying well sure anyone can make a nice glycerin soap these days. Well the lovely lady of Flower Moon Soaps happens to make not only the nicest smelling soap but it seems to have magical powers too! Friends to whom I have gifted this too have claimed glowing skin and less acne and they seem to become depressed when its all gone. Which can be only elimenated by visiting the lovely soap lady at the farmers market in Chestertown, Maryland or going to her website http://www.flowermoonsoaps.com/ not, I REPEAT, not taking it from my soap dish because that is, well it's just gross.

Did I mention he brings us farm fresh eggs too?

Food for Thought

You tell on yourself by the friends you seek,
By the very manner in which you speak,
By the way you employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of dollar and dime.

You tell on yourself by the things you wear,
By the spirit in which your burdens you bear,
By the type of things at which you laugh,
By the records you play on your phonograph.

You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things of which you delight to talk,
By the manner in which you can bear defeat,
By so simple a thing as how you eat.

By the books you choose from the library shelf,
By these things and more, you tell on yourself.

This peom is so true. I read it in Oct/Nov Reminisce Magazine

A gift bag for a greeting card???

Finally, pictures of my little craft. I made this for a fellow blogger in Holland, Odd & Woolly when we decided to swap. I used wool felt and buttons that have been screaming for a home for at least 2 years or more. It is slightly larger than a standard greeting card. I put a card and some origami paper inside . I may make a few of these at Christmas for teachers gift cards. Any whoo! It's not much but it's a start! PS I apologize to all of you seasoned bloggers who actually know what you are doing. The blue side with the starfish buttons is actually the front.

I know it has been a while since an entry blogged. I know I need to post some pictures, but I couldn't let today go by without a reminder of the obvious. Today's date. Do you remember where you were when you heard about the attacks on our country? I do. The chill down my spine, the concern for those killed, those injured and those who were left behind to pick up and carry on. The fear I felt for my family very close to Washington, D.C. Take a moment to say a prayer.

I did it!

After the children were snuggled in bed I created something! Okay, I know not a big deal but for me, yes it is! My husband would say it was because I had things organized (he would be right about that). Anyway back to crafting. I found a bin full of pretty wool felt and buttons and such tucked on the shelf so nicely I have been afraid to open it for a while. I dusted off my sewing machine (and my brain). After consulting the manual on how to wind a bobbin (told you it has been a while) I churned out what I thought was a pretty good start. I mean in a preschool kind of way. Think macaroni shell collage kind of proud. Well, I will post a picture of my little project later this month. Although I finished it in about 2 hours it is a gift and I want the receiver to receive the thing first. Make sense. Now I have to rest up for my next project.

My Very First Post

Well, I have been tinkering with the idea of a blog for about six months now. It happened when I stumbled on to these amazing blogs searching for craft projects. Now I have decided to start my own to chronicle my way back to crafting again. Now with your feedback it will be much harder to have an excuse not to create something. To all you seasoned crafters/bloggers thanks for being such an inspiration! Ready...set...go!
